Visiting boats
Visiting boats are very welcome and can usually find a free berth at the jetty.
The HYC jetty is situated on the northern side of the harbour, and you practically head straight for it as you enter from Wanger outer channel.
Moorings:
Harbour side (Side A): for boats up to 11 metres in length
Land side (Side B): for boats up to 8.50 metres in length
The guest mooring fee is 20 euros per night, including electricity, water and waste disposal.
Seasonal moorings may also be available for visiting boats (costs on enquiry).
Any berth marked in green is generally available for visiting boats.
If a date is shown on the green sign, this indicates the last day on which the berth is available…
in other words: the regular berth holder is expected to return home the following day.
The loyal heart and soul of the jetty, HYC harbour master Wilhelm Jürgens – whose reputation extended far beyond the club’s boundaries – passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the end of July whilst on board his yacht ‘Olly’.

- The toilet block is at the neighbouring lido, just 200 metres away. Simply walk north along the beach towards Schillig, and you’ll see it on your port side. The toilet facilities are on the second floor and are larger and better than those at the fish and chip shop. They’re also much closer than if you were to make your way via the waterlock.
- There is another toilet block with toilets and showers on the opposite side of the harbour, on the starboard side next to the Fischhuus. The toilets and washrooms are open during the day; at night, access is available at any time via a combination lock (the code is kept in the club’s letterbox).
Both toilet facilities are operated by Wangerland Touristik GmbH – please bear in mind that we have no control over cleanliness (which is, however, consistently good) or opening hours.
- Free Wi-Fi (Watt’n Netz) is available throughout the harbour. One transmitter is located on the adjacent northern meadow, the other on the opposite side of the harbour in the car park.
- Fuel can be obtained from the petrol station near the north-north-western edge of Horumersiel, or from the Mettjes petrol station at Bäderstrasse 1 in Hooksiel. A Caddy is available on the jetty for transporting jerry cans.
- A supermarket, bakery and banks are within walking distance in the centre of Horumersiel (distance approx. 500 m).
- A mast crane is available in the harbour for erecting or lowering masts; it is situated to the left of the sluice gate or to the right of the mooring for the DGzRS sea rescue boat. Use of the crane must be arranged with the neighbouring club, SKHS.
- Next to the gangway, there is an area where you can lean your boat against posts to dry it out and carry out work on the underwater hull. Depending on the vessel’s draught, the draught may be up to 1.4 metres.

The mooring fees are strictly for the use of the club’s own jetty facilities.
No custody agreement is formed.
During the mooring period, the club accepts no liability whatsoever for personal injury or damage to property.
It is a prerequisite that every guest holds a boat licence and valid third-party liability insurance for their boat. Proof of this must be provided upon request by the committee.
Please observe the jetty regulations, which are displayed in the noticeboard at the jetty entrance.

- Horumersiel, a lovely little place with good restaurants. The harbour offers excellent moorings with a wonderful view of the Jade. I’d particularly recommend the HYC (eastern jetty on the north side), which has one of the best jetty facilities and the best harbour master, Wilhelm Jürgens.
- On 2 June, we visited the Horumersiel Yacht Club in Horumersiel Harbour. What a fantastic facility. The harbour master, Mr Jürgens, was brilliant. I can highly recommend the HYC’s jetty facilities. Everything is as good as new and superbly equipped. We’ll be returning there time and again with our WICKIE.
- It’s centrally located between the East Frisian Islands, Heligoland, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven, and there’s usually always a berth available for visiting yachts. The flat-rate mooring fee of €20 includes electricity and water; fuel must be collected from the petrol station. There’s a supermarket in the village (500m away).
- Getting there is a bit tricky, but the area and the atmosphere are world-class nonetheless.
- It can get a bit dry in places. Toilets at the snack bar; electricity and water at the jetty. I enjoy visiting as a guest.
- If you love peace and quiet, this is the perfect spot for you. The landscape and surroundings are very beautiful. The quality of food in the restaurants varies greatly – you’ll find everything from the cheapest to the most expensive!
